EET 112 - AC Circuits


Class: 3 Lab: 3 Credits: 4
This course is a study of capacitive and inductive reactance and impedance in series, parallel and series-parallel circuits. It also includes power, power-factors, resonance and transformers. Circuits are analyzed using mathematics, and verified using electrical instruments.

Prerequisite(s): Take MAT 110 EET 111 
Course Topics:
  • AC resistor circuits.
  • Capacitor DC circuits
  • Inductor DC circuits
  • Capacitor and inductor response in AC circuits.
  • RC, RL, and RLC AC circuits.
  • Power utilization in AC circuits.
  • Series and parallel impedance circuits.
  • Transformer, resonant, and three-phase circuits.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify and use the appropriate bench test equipment in a laboratory setting.
  2. Explain experimental results as it relates to theory.
  3. Collaborate on a technical project contributing to the success of the team.
  4. Create technical project reports using technical knowledge and professional writing skills. 
  5. Design, troubleshoot and test electronic and industrial circuits.
