This course is a survey of U.S. history from 1877 to the present. This course includes political, social, economic, and intellectual developments during this period.

Prerequisite(s): Take ENG 100 and RDG 100 with a minimum grade of “C”.

Rise of industry.
Urban America at the turn of the century.
America’s rise to empire.
Politics of progressivism.
U.S. involvement in World War I.
Roaring twenties.
Reactionary politics in the 1920s.
America’s descent into the Great Depression.
Steps leading to U.S. involvement In World War II.
U.S. role in World War II.
Origins of the Cold War.
U.S. involvement in Vietnam.
Civil Rights movement.
Nixon presidency.
Administrations of Carter, Reagan and Bush.

An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
