IST 202 - Cisco Router Configuration


Class: 3 Credits: 3
This course is a study of LANs, WANs, OSI models, Ethernet, token ring, fiber distributed data interface TCP/IP addressing protocol, dynamic routing, routing, and the network administrator’s role and function.

Prerequisite(s): Take IST 201  with a minimum grade of “C”.

Student Learning Outcomes:
 

  1. Describe the purpose, nature, and operations of a router, routing tables, and the route lookup process.
  2. Configure and verify static routing and default routing.
  3. Describe dynamic routing protocols, distance vector routing protocols, and link-state routing protocols.
  4. Configure and troubleshoot basic operations of routers in a complex routed network for IPv4 and IPv6.
  5. Configure and troubleshoot advanced operations of routers, implementing RIPv2 and OSPF routing protocols for IPv4 and IPv6.
  6. Describe the purpose and types of access control lists (ACLs).
  7. Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot ACLs for IPv4 and IPv6.
  8. Manage Cisco IOS Software licensing and configuration files.
