SPA 102 - Elementary Spanish II


Class: 4 Credits: 4
This course continues development of the basic language skills and the study of Hispanic cultures.

Prerequisite(s): Take SPA 101  with a minimum grade of “C”.
Course Topics:

  • Reading skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
  • Writing skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
  • Speaking skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
  • Listening skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
  • Cultural awareness of traditions/events/significant persons in the Hispanic/Latino community

Required Materials:

  • Spanish/English Dictionary recommended

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate listening comprehension of spoken Spanish.
  2. Develop conversational skills in speaking Spanish.
  3. Demonstrate reading comprehension of written Spanish.
  4. Demonstrate writing comprehension in Spanish.
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of the culture, history, and daily lives of the Spanish-speaking peoples of the world.
