DAT 123 - Oral Medicine/Oral Biology Class: 3 Credits: 3 This course presents a basic study of oral pathology, pharmacology, nutrition, and common emergencies as related to the role of the dental assistant.

- Identify the medically and physically compromised patient.
- Use pharmacology references.
- Describe drugs commonly used in dentistry.

- Define and recognize vital signs principles.
- Identify pain control and anesthetic techniques in dentistry.
- Identify possible diseases of the teeth, dental pulp, oral tissues, and their effects on dental health.
