MTT 153 - Precision Machining III

This course is an introduction to the operation of basic machine shop equipment with emphasis on lathes.

  • Clear Safety Glasses
  • 3-Piece Machinist Starter Kit:
  • 6” Rule
  • 1” Micrometer
  • 6” Dial Caliper

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A 90 - 100
B 80 - 89
C 70 - 79
D 60 - 69
F 0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explain safe and unsafe work practices in a machine shop.
  2. Identify the principles and types of cut-off metal saws and accessories.
  3. Identify the purpose of the main operative parts of the engine lathe.
  4. Perform entry level turning procedures.
