PHY 221 - University Physics I Class: 3 Lab: 3 Credits: 4 This is the first of a sequence of courses. The course includes a calculus based treatment of the following topics: vectors, laws of motion, rotation, vibratory, and wave motion.
Prerequisite(s): Take MAT 140 with a minimum grade of “C”. Course Topics:

- Static Equilibrium: Elasticity and Fracture

- Oscillations
- Wave Motion
- Sound
- Temperature, Thermal Expansion, and the Ideal Gas Law
- Kinetic Theory of Gases
- Heat and the first Law of Thermodynamics
- The Laws of Thermodynamics
