RES 121 - Respiratory Skills I Class: 3 Lab: 3 Credits: 4 This course includes a study of basic respiratory therapy procedures and their administration.
Course Topics:
- principles of infection control
- procedures associated with the bedside assessment of the patient
- patient safety, communication and record keeping
- storage and delivery systems of medical gases
- delivery of medical gas therapy
- delivery of humidity and bland aerosol therapy
- administration of medicated aerosol modalities
- ethical and legal implications of medical care
- factors of communication related to cultural diversity in the health care setting
Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Book Inn Web site Required Materials: None Grading System: The standard mathematical procedure of rounding will be applied to arrive at a whole number percentage in the final grade calculation.
A grade of “C” or higher is required to continue in the associate degree program.
