SOC 101 - Introduction to Sociology


Class: 3 Credits: 3
This course emphasizes the fundamental concepts and principles of sociology, including culture, socialization, interaction, social groups and stratification, effects of population growth, and technology in society and social institutions.

Prerequisite(s): Take ENG 100  and RDG 100  with a minimum grade of “C”.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate understanding of the three main theoretical perspectives of Sociology.
  2. Recognize issues related to class, race, and gender stratification, including how they are socially constructed.
  3. Analyze the impact of social institutions on the socialization of individuals.
