MTT 251 - CNC Operations Class: 2 Lab: 3 Credits: 3 This course is a study of CNC machine controls, setting tools, and machine limits, and capabilities.
Prerequisite(s): Take MTT 250 with a minimum grade of “C”. Course Topics:
- Machine Controls
- Selecting/Setting up Tooling
- Manual G-Code programming

- Scientific Calculator (TI-30XA)
- USB Drive
- Clear Safety Glasses
- 3-piece Machinist Starter Kit:
- 6” Rule
- 1” Micrometer
- 6” Dial Caliper
Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A 90 - 100
B 80 - 89
C 70 - 79
D 60 - 69
F 0 - 59
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Understand and identify different types of machine controls.
- Identify proper tooling required to perform job tasks.
- Produce basic G-Code programs for CNC Mill.
- Produce basic G-Code programs for CNC Lathe.
