Description: This course provides instruction on critical elements of emergency preparedness in the medical office as well as community response in a bioemergency or natural disaster.
Prerequisite(s): MED 102 , MED 105 , MED 113 , and MED 118 . Course Topics:

F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss the importance of bio emergency preparedness for the medical office.
- Recognize various biological agents that have the potential to be used in bio terrorism events.
- Discuss the importance of planning for a Pandemic influenza outbreak.
- Explain the role of the Medical Assistant during a bio terrorism event and pandemic outbreak.
- Describe the basic principles of First Aid.
- Identify the physical agents necessary to promote tissue healing.
- Recognize emergencies in the ambulatory care setting.
- Practice skills in a mock environment exposure event.
- Develop preparedness skills through CERT: Community Emergency Response Training.
- Discuss proper fire safety.
