MTT 254 - CNC Programming I

Description: This course is a study of CNC programming, including machine language and computer assisted programming.
Prerequisite(s): Take MTT 252 with a minimum grade of C.
Course Topics:
- Fanuc Controls and Programming
- CNC Tooling Geometry and Offsets
- CNC WPC’s and Work shifts
- NIMS Credentialing

- Clear Safety Glasses
- Scientific Calculator (TI-30XA)
- USB Drive
Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate common programming features required to operate CNC Lathes and Mills
- Demonstrate CNC techniques for specific machining operations.
- Demonstrate machining practices using tool offsets and work shifts.
- Write CNC programs for turning and milling machines.
- Complete NIMS Level I CNC Turning Operator and CNC Milling Operator Online Exams.
