NUR 248 - Critical Care II Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 3 Clinical Hours: 3 Credits: 2
Description: This course covers the development of competencies necessary to meet the needs of the patient with life threatening problems of the central nervous system, renal, and selected multiple trauma situations. Emotional reactions are included.
Prerequisite(s): NUR 135 , NUR 212 , and NUR 214 . Course Topics: Advanced medical-surgical nursing management:

Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Assess and manage abnormal patient data, labs, nursing diagnoses, nursing interventions and evaluation for the patients with fluid, electrolyte, and acid base imbalances requiring intravenous therapy and nutrition.
- Develop a plan of care for the client who has experienced burn Injuries or trauma.
- Develop a plan of care for clients experiencing respiratory failure, associated diseases and those requiring ventilator assistance.
- Develop a plan of care for a client experiencing shock, sepsis, or multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
- Develop a plan of care for clients who have experienced cardiovascular compromise, dysrhythmias, or acute cardiac injury.
