DAT 105 - Dental Charting and Documentation


Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is the study of dental charting and documentation as it relates to direct patient care in general dentistry. The course will include a clinical observation with an emphasis on documentation and clinical records.

Prerequisite(s): AHS 113 DAT 113 , DAT 115 DAT 118 , DAT 121  and DAT 154 .

Grading System:
An overall grade of B or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F =   0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Recognize various types of charts, tooth numbering and dental function system, symbols, and abbreviations.
  2. Describe and discuss forms included in patient record.
  3. Document clinical observation standards and manage patient treatment clinical records.
