DHM 251 - Suspension and Steering

Description: This course is a study of steering systems, suspension systems, and basic front-end alignment techniques. 

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173 
Course Topics:
  • Tires and wheels
  • Front suspension service
  • Rear suspension service
  • Wheel alignments
  • Power assisted steering systems

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A =  90 - 100
B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79
D =   60 - 69
F =     0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate proper setup of alignment equipment to record wheel alignment angle measurements.
  2. Perform diagnostic, repair, and adjustment procedures for steering systems and components.
  3. Perform diagnostic, repair and adjustment procedures for suspension systems and components.
  4. Demonstrate industry standard tire maintenance and repair procedures.
