ARV 219 - Multimedia Techniques


Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is an introduction to the production of current audio-visual media.

Prerequisite(s): Take ARV 217  with a minimum grade of C. 
Course Topics:
  • Current state of multimedia on the World Wide Web
  • Characteristics of multimedia design
  • Design fundamentals of multimedia
  • Various multimedia tools
  • Formats for images, video, and audio
  • Copyright and creative commons licensing
  • Stop motion animation
  • Use of Adobe Express
  • Use of Adobe Premiere Rush
  • Use of Stop Motion Studio App
  • Cell phone photography/videography

  • Cellphone with video camera capabilities and storage

  • Stereo USB headset with microphone (optional)

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F =   0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain the roles, processes, occupations, responsibilities, and technologies within the multimedia production industry.
  2. Produce still image and video using cell phone photography.
  3. Create and produce digital posts and videos using Adobe Express, including managing content, and uploading content.
  4. Create and produce videos using Adobe Premiere Rush, including setting preferences, adding media, adding a background audio, recording a voice-over, managing content and exporting media.
  5. Create and produce still-image, animation videos using Stop Motion Studio App, setting preferences, managing content, and exporting media.
