PNR 130 - Medical/Surgical Nursing II


Class: 3 Lab: 6 Credits: 5
This course is a continuation of the study of the nursing process. Concepts include physiological, psychosocial, pharmacological, nutritional, and health and safety needs of the adult patient. Clinical experiences include commonly occurring health problems having predictable outcomes. 

Prerequisite(s): Take COL 101 ENG 101 PSY 201 BIO 112  and MAT 110  or MAT 120  with a minimum grade of “C”. Take PNR 110 PNR 120  and PNR 121  with a minimum grade of “B”.

  1. Compare and contrast the normal physiology of body systems to pathologic variations. (PLO 2)
  2. Compare and contrast diagnostic evaluations and treatments. (PLO 2)
  3. Identify common nursing interventions, rationales, and expected outcomes related to client teaching for individual management of selected common disease processes. (PLO 2)
  4. Demonstrate competency in selected advanced nursing skills and interventions utilizing principles of safety. (PLO 1)
  5. Demonstrate critical thinking by combining knowledge of selected disease processes and assessment data to formulate desire outcomes. (PLO 2)
