CYB 201 - Cybersecurity Operations Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Description: This course is a study of the concepts and technologies related to Security Operations Center teams that detect and respond to cybersecurity threats. Topics cover an in-depth review of security concepts and monitoring, host-based and network intrusion analysis, and security policies and procedures.
Prerequisite(s): IST 203 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics: • Principles of cybersecurity
• Security policy design and management
• Firewalls, intrusion detection and other countermeasures on computer network systems
• Legal, ethical, and governmental security laws
• Disaster recovery strategy and procedures
• Ethical hacking and countermeasures Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Chaser’s Bark Shop website Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the basic principles of computer and network security.
- Demonstrate knowledge of security policy design and management.
- Identify network perimeter threats and monitor perimeter security for a network.
- Identify, respond to, and assist in the formal investigation of security incidents.
- Protect information in an organization by using authentication and access control.
