EET 145 - Digital Circuits

Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 4

Description: This course is a study of number systems, basic logic gates, Boolean algebra, logic optimization, flip-flops, counters and registers. Circuits are modeled, constructed, and tested.

Prerequisite(s): Take ENG 100 and (MAT 102 or MAT 153) and RDG 100.

Corequisite(s): Take MAT 110.

Course Topics:

Converting between various number systems
Writing and decipher binary codes
Determining the function of logic gates
Constructing and analyzing contents of truth tables
Writing and simplifying Boolean expressions
Use of software code to replace hard-wired logic gates
Determining the characteristic of latches and flip-flops
Designing, simulating, building, and testing digital control circuits

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59

Construct analog and digital circuits using basic schematic diagrams.
Design, troubleshoot and test electronic and industrial circuits.
Demonstrate time management skills, adhering to all deadlines for assignments, tests, and projects.
