EET 236 - PLC Systems Programming


Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course covers advanced topics in programmable logic controllers (PLC) systems and programming including timing, conversions, analog operations, PID control, auxiliary commands and functions, and PLC to PLC systems communications.

Prerequisite(s): Take EET 235 .
Course Topics:
  • Advanced PLC instructions including analog operations
  • Advanced PLC programming techniques
  • PLC process control operation including the creation and use of subroutines
  • PLC to PLC network communications
  • Advanced PLC troubleshooting

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79
D =   60 - 69
F =     0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Use electronic and industrial schematics in finding solutions to given case studies, scenarios or word problems.
  2. Choose the appropriate solution to engineering technology problems based on given criteria.
  3. Use programming software to code solutions for engineering technology problems.
  4. Design, troubleshoot and test electronic and industrial circuits.
  5. Solve engineering technology problems using practical knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering and technology.
