CRJ 115 - Criminal Law I


Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course covers the development of criminal law in America. The basic elements of specific criminal offenses, criminal defenses, and various legal principles upon which criminal law is established are reviewed. 

Prerequisite(s): Take ENG 100  and RDG 100  with a minimum grade of C.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Describe the four generally recognized goals of the criminal justice system.
  2. Explain the meaning of corpus delicti and its role in criminal prosecutions.
  3. List and explain the property concepts that underlie property crimes.
  4. Identify the jurisdictional requirements for a federal RICO charge.
