Description: This is an introductory course to the techniques of hairshaping. Emphasis is given to the correct use and safety of implements, proper hair sectioning, and various techniques used in hair design in relationship to body structure.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the reference points on the head and understand their role in haircutting.
- Define lines, sections, elevations, and guidelines and perform the four basic haircuts.
- Articulate the factors involved in a successful client consultation.
- Explain the uses of the various tools of haircutting, including the proper use of clippers in a clipper cut.
- Demonstrate the multiple ways to section and cut the bang (fringe) area and identify and explain three different texturizing techniques performed with shears.
