PNR 120 - Medical/Surgical Nursing I

Description: This course is a beginning study utilizing the nursing process. Concepts include physiological, psychosocial, nutritional, and health and safety needs of the adult. Clinical experiences address selected commonly occurring health problems having predictable outcomes. The first Medical-Surgical course in the Practical Nursing program, covers foundational topics essential to patient care, including basic alterations in health, common adult health disorders, and the application of the nursing process in medical-surgical settings, with content focused on anatomy and physiology, lifespan development, older adult health promotion and care, fluid and electrolytes, specimen collection and diagnostic testing, surgical wound care, and blood and lymphatic disorders.

Prerequisite(s): Take PNR 110.

Grading System:
An overall grade of B or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59
