CPT 127 - Python Programming I

Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is a study of Python programming and covers the language syntax and algorithm design. Students also learn how Python can be used for many purposes in information systems.

Prerequisite(s): Take CPT 168 with a minimum grade of C.

Course Topics:

Basic syntax, data types, and control structures in Python
Basic programs in Python
Built in Python functions
Data stores
Test and debug code

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59

Student Learning Outcomes:

Incorporate appropriate syntax, data types, and control structures such as decisions and loops into basic Python programs.
Write programs to input data, solve computational problems and output answers.
Use built-in functions and standard libraries.
Create and manipulate data structures such as lists, tuples, sets and dictionaries.
Develop, debug and test code using tools like print statements, error messages, and IDEs.
