MEC 213 - Technical Troubleshooting


Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course consists of a systematic approach to troubleshooting techniques used to diagnose failures in mechanical, electrical, and fluid power systems. In addition, utilizing the proper testing equipment that aids in locating the root cause of machine malfunctions.

Prerequisite(s): Take MEC 120  and MEC 121

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F =   0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Isolate the defective equipment (electric components, I/O, mechanical).
  2. Define and utilize troubleshooting techniques Evaluate manufacturer’s methods of part identification.
  3. Demonstrate ability to use logic in determining the nature of a problem.
  4. Determine if a possible corrective action for the cause of the problem exists.
