EDU 200 - Foundations of Special Education

Description: This course provides knowledge of basic concepts in special education related to the education of individuals with disabilities. Content includes historical factors, legislation, etiology, educational strategies, identification procedures, support services and the impact on academic performance.

Prerequisite(s): Take ENG 100 and RDG 100 with a minimum grade of C.

Concepts related to special needs education including historical factors, legislation, etiology, educational strategies, identification procedures, support services and the impact on academic performance.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59

Describe various theoretical models and perspectives in the field of special education.
Identify the general characteristics and identification procedures for different types of exceptionalities.

Research current developments, issues, and trends in special education, including legislation, litigation, and use of technology.
