ECD 259 - Behavior Management for Special Needs

Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is an overview of understanding and managing challenging behavior in school and child care settings. It includes common causes of problem behaviors and treatment for attention disorders, making changes in the classroom, and administrative steps to help children with challenging behaviors.

Prerequisite(s): Take ECD 105 and ECD 107 with a minimum grade of C.

Course Topics:

Students will be able to identify and design developmentally effective behavior management approaches.
Students will be able to examine positive relationships and supportive interactions as the foundation of their work with young children.
Students will be able to reflect on their own practice to promote positive outcomes for each child in an inclusive setting.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
