BAF 201 - Principles of Finance


Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This is an introductory course to the field of finance. The monetary and credit system are examined along with how the demand for funds is met in both the public and private sector.

Prerequisite(s): Take ACC 101  with a minimum grade of C.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain the structure and function of the monetary and credit system, including the roles of financial institutions, markets, and government policy in facilitating the flow of funds.
  2. Distinguish between major sources of financing such as debt, equity, and financial intermediaries.
  3. Apply fundamental financial concepts and terminology to real-world examples to evaluate basic financial decisions made by households, businesses, and government entities.
  4. Demonstrate the use of accounting systems and financial statements in conjunction with various businesses and financial institutions.
