ACR 106 - Basic Electricity for HVAC/R


Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 4

Description: This course includes a basic study of electricity, including Ohm’s Law and series and parallel circuits as they relate to heating, ventilating, air conditioning and/or refrigeration systems.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F =   0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Test and check equipment for the proper voltage and amperage. 
  2. Test equipment electrical fused disconnects, determining if the correct voltage requirements are present. 
  3. Successfully rewire the components of a split air condition condenser. 
  4. Check and safely replace a blown fuse.
