BIO 102 - Biological Science II Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 4
Description: This course is a study of the classification of organisms and structural and functional considerations of all Kingdoms (Particularly major phyla as well as viruses). Vertebrate animals and vascular plants are emphasized.
Prerequisite(s): Take BIO 101 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics:

- Ecology of Life

F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Discuss the history of evolutionary thought, methods by which populations evolve, speciation, and evidence of macroevolution.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the structures, life cycles, and impacts of Viruses.
- Identify and describe the key characteristics and classification of prokaryotic organisms, protists, and fungi.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of plants including anatomy, taxonomy, diversity, and physiology.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of animals including anatomy, taxonomy, diversity, physiology, and behavior.
- Describe the scope of ecology including the demographics of populations, growth models regulation of population size and life history patterns.
- Demonstrate proficiency in basic laboratory techniques including the use and care of dissection and compound microscopes; and safe and useful dissection protocols.
