IST 201 - Cisco Internetworking Concepts Lecture Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Description: This course is a study of current and emerging computer networking technology. Topics covered include safety, networking, network terminology and protocols, network standards, LANs, WANs, OSI models, cabling, cabling tools, Cisco routers, router programming, star topology, IP addressing, and network standards.
Prerequisite(s): Take IST 166 and CPT 209 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics:
- Internetworking Devices.
- Common Types of Networks.
- The OSI Model.
- TCP/IP
- IP Addressing and Routing.
- Subnetting IP Networks.
- Network Protocols and Communications.
- Operating and Configuring Cisco IOS Devices.

F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Design, calculate, and apply subnet masks and addresses to fulfill given requirements in IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
- Build a simple Ethernet network using routers and switches.
- Use Cisco command-line interface (CLI) commands to perform basic router and switch configurations.
- Configure routers to enable end-to-end connectivity between remote devices.
- Configure IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes and verify network connectivity between devices.
