PHY 221 - University Physics I Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 4
Description: This is the first of a sequence of courses. The course includes a calculus based treatment of the following topics: vectors, laws of motion, rotation, vibratory, and wave motion.
Prerequisite(s): Take MAT 140 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics:

- Rotational Motion about a Fixed Axis
- General Rotation
- Static Equilibrium: Elasticity and Fracture
- Fluids
- Oscillations
- Wave Motion
- Sound
- Temperature, Thermal Expansion, and the Ideal Gas Law
- Kinetic Theory of Gases
- Heat and the first Law of Thermodynamics
- The Laws of Thermodynamics

Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
