RAD 283 - Imaging Practicum


Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 0 Clinical Hours: 6 Credits: 3

Description: This clinical course provides an opportunity for exploration of career opportunities in radiology and advanced imaging modalities.

Prerequisite(s): Take RAD 230  and RAD 256  with a minimum grade of C.

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability and to continue in the Radiologic Technology Program.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F =   0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Communicate and work effectively with the healthcare professionals and patients within Computed Tomography, and two of the following additional imaging modalities:  Interventional Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Oncology.
  2. Assist in the performance of a procedure(s), under direct observation of a qualified practitioner, in Computed Tomography and two of the following additional imaging modalities:  Interventional Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Oncology.
  3. Identify the basic principles of Computed Tomography and two of the following additional imaging modalities:  Interventional Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Oncology.
  4. Describe how diagnostic radiography complements the special imaging modalities.
  5. Demonstrate adherence to Radiologic Technology Program policies and procedures while rotating through the various special imaging modalities.
