SOC 205 - Social Problems Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Credits: 3
Description: This course is a survey of current social problems in America, stressing the importance of social change and conflicts as they influence perceptions, definitions, etiology, and possible solutions.
Prerequisite(s): Take SOC 101 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics:
- Studying Social Problems in the Twenty-First Century
- Wealth and Poverty: U.S. and Global Economic Inequalities
- Racial and Ethnic Inequality
- Inequality based on Age
- Alcohol and other Drugs
- Crime and Criminal Justice
- The Changing Family
- Problems in Politics and the Global Economy
- Global Social Problems: War and Terrorism
- Can Social Problems Be Solved?
