MTT 253 - CNC Programming and Operations Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 6 Credits: 3
Description: This course is a study of the planning, programming, selecting tooling, determining speeds and feeds, setting up, operating, and testing of CNC programs on CNC machines.
Prerequisite(s): Take MTT 251 with a minimum grade of “C”. Corequisite(s): Take MTT 252 . Course Topics:
- Process planning
- G-Code programming
- CNC Machine Set-up
- CNC Macine Operation

- 6” Dial Caliper
Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A 90 - 100
B 80 - 89
C 70 - 79
D 60 - 69
F 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Define the basic layout of CNC controls.
- Demonstrate proper start-up procedures.
- Demonstrate WPC set-up and work-shift.
- Demonstrate tool offsets and tool lengths.
- Demonstrate basic set-up and programming formats.
