MTT 256 - CNC Programming III Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Description: This course is a study of advanced CNC programming methods using multi-axis machining centers.
Prerequisite(s): Take MTT 254 with a minimum grade of C. Corequisite(s): Take MTT 255 . Course Topics:
- 3+2 Programming
- 5 Axis Simultaneous Programming
- C Axis Lathe Programming
- Lathe Live-tooling Programming
Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Book Inn website Required Materials:
- Scientific Calculator (TI-30XA)
- USB Drive
- Clear Safety Glasses
- 3-piece Machinist Starter Kit:
- 6” Rule
- 1” Micrometer
- 6” Dial Caliper
Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Successfuly produce multi-axis programs using the 3+2 method.
- Successfully produce simultaneous 5 axis programs.
- Successfully utilize the C-axis for complex parts on the CNC lathe.
- Successfully utilize live-tooling for complex parts on the CNC lathe.
- Create advanced level tool paths using computer assisted manufacturing (CAM software).
