DHM 173 - Electrical Systems I

Description: This course is a study of basic electrical theory as applied to truck and heavy equipment batteries, starters, and alternators.

Corequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113

An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Explain the basic principles of electrical systems.
  2. Construct basic electrical circuits.
  3. Use electrical measuring devices.
  4. Test the operation of the components used in an electrical system.
  5. Show the ability to use service literature to assist in testing and diagnosis.
  6. Distinguish between the principles and uses of Alternating Current and Direct Current.
  7. Correlate the relationship between Ohm’s Law and actual electrical circuit measurements.
