DHM 121 - Introduction to Diagnostic Testing


Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 3 CWE Hours: 0 Credits: 2

Description: This course is an introduction to basic theory and practical application of diagnostic testing equipment in trouble-shooting procedures. Content includes the study of diagnostic software and generic diagnostic readers for all major engine manufacturers.

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A =  90 - 100
B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify the symptoms, to system, to component, to cause diagnostic process.
  2. Analyze the application of guided diagnostics and pinpoint test procedures.
  3. Examine the technical information included in Technical Service Bulletins and Recalls.
  4. Interpret readings from basic diagnostic testing equipment.
  5. Examine diagnostic trouble codes using a scan tool.
