DHM 125 - Diesel Fuel Systems

Description: This course is a basic study of diesel engine fuel systems including pumps, governors, and injectors.

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173 
Course Topics:
  • Diesel fuel system theory and operation
  • Diesel fuel system diagnosis
  • Diesel fuel system repair

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79

F =     0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify the difference between indirect and direct fuel injection in diesel engines.
  2. Identify the operation and maintenance of the components of fuel supply and delivery systems.
  3. Examine the development of alternative combustion ignition fuels.
  4. Analyze the causes and effects of diesel fuel contamination.
  5. Perform diagnostic and repair procedures of the diesel fuel system.
