DHM 232 - Heating, Cooling, & Air Conditioning Systems

Description: This course is an introduction to engine heating and cooling systems used in modern trucks. Various truck and heavy equipment air conditioning systems are explored.

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159 or CWE 113 and DHM 173.

Course Topics:

Principles of refrigeration cycle
Principles of heating systems
Diagnosis and repair of HVAC systems

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59

Student Learning Outcomes:

Identify the regulations, laws, and safety requirements related to modern refrigerants in mobile refrigeration systems.
Interpret the routing and flow of refrigerant in mobile HVAC systems.
Perform the procedures to diagnose and identify a refrigerant leak in mobile equipment.
Perform a freon discharge, recycle, and recharge using proper equipment setup and industry standard procedures.
