DHM 265 - Hydraulic Systems


Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is a study of the theory, application, testing, and repair of diesel and heavy equipment hydraulic systems. 

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173 
Course Topics:
  • Heavy equipment hydraulic systems theory and operation
  • Hydraulic system diagnosis
  • Hydraulic system repair procedures
  • Pascal’s law of hydraulics

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A =  90 - 100
B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79
D =   60 - 69
F =     0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Identify the operation of hydraulic pumps, valves, actuators, and motors.
  2. Apply Pascal’s Law as it relates to hydraulic system operation.
  3. Interpret hydraulic system symbols, diagrams, and schematics.
  4. Perform inspections and repairs of hydraulic system components.
