EGR 269 - Engineering Disciplines and Skills Lecture Hours: 1 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 2
Description: This course assists students in selecting an engineering field while studying professionalism, ethics, safety, communications, and career planning. Computers are used to study spreadsheets, obtain graphical solutions to problems, perform on-line tasks, and work on a team design project and report.
Prerequisite(s): Take MAT 110 . Course Topics:
- Various engineering disciplines and engineering major.
- Project work in the form of a written report.
- Estimation techniques to engineering problems:
- Data collection and analysis for simple engineering experiments.
- Microsoft Excel to analyze engineering data
- Commonly used engineering units both SI and US customary systems.
Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Book Inn website Required Materials:
- Engineering calculator
(No, you may not use your cell phone as a calculator on tests and exams)
- Engineering paper (graph paper).
Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Show knowledge of the steps to successful problem solving.
- Solve engineering problems using practical knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering and technology.
- Use programming software to code solutions for engineering technology problems
- Use Excel to analyze experimental data.
- Choose a reasonable solution to engineering problems based on given criteria.
