MED 114 - Medical Assisting Clinical Procedures

Description: This course covers examination room techniques, including vital signs, specialty examination, minor surgical techniques and emergency procedures.

Prerequisite(s): Take MED 102, MED 105, MED 113 and MED 118.

Corequisite(s): Take MED 108, MED 116 and MED 134.

Grading System:
An overall grade of B or higher is required for transferability.

Describe the necessity and function of the medical history in patient treatment.
Describe methods, positioning, and instruments used in routine physical examinations.
Employ medical assisting practices to assist the physician with obstetrics, gynecological, and male reproductive examinations.
Employ medical assisting practices to assist the physician with pediatric examinations.
Identify expected changes that occur as part of the aging process.
Distinguish various techniques used in medical specialty examinations and procedures of the body systems.
