SPA 102 - Elementary Spanish II Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 4
Description: This course continues development of the basic language skills and the study of Hispanic cultures.
Prerequisite(s): Take SPA 101 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics:
- Reading skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
- Writing skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
- Speaking skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
- Listening skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the second semester level
- Cultural awareness of traditions/events/significant persons in the Hispanic/Latino community
Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Book Inn website Required Materials:
- Spanish/English Dictionary recommended
Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Demonstrate strengthened listening comprehension skills through complex listening comprehension activities.
- Express ability to make requests and include complementary pronouns in speech.
- Demonstrate reading comprehension skills through short stories and prose.
- Employ second year vocabulary and basic to intermediate grammar in writing.
- Examine and analyze dialectal differences and Spanish speaking cultures.
