SPA 202 - Intermediate Spanish II Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Credits: 3
Description: This course continues a review of Spanish grammar with attention given to more complex grammatical structures and reading more difficult prose.
Prerequisite(s): Take SPA 201 with a minimum grade of C. Course Topics:
- Reading skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the fourth semester level
- Writing skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the fourth semester level
- Speaking skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the fourth semester level
- Listening skills appropriate for non-native speakers of Spanish at the fourth semester level
- Cultural awareness of traditions/events/significant persons in the Hispanic/Latino community
Textbooks: Textbook information can be found on the Book Inn website Required Materials:
- Spanish/English Dictionary recommended
Grading System: An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.
A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89
C = 70 - 79
D = 60 - 69
F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Distinguish between polite commands, strong requests and time through listening comprehension clips and narrated texts.
- Express ability to use various grammatical modes of desires, requests and narrate using complex future constructions.
- Demonstrate advanced reading comprehension skills using various media texts from various Spanish speaking countries.
- Write compositions and short stories to demonstrate knowledge of complex grammar of subjunctive.
- Compare and contrast Hispanic cultures with students’ own culture in a formal manner.
