DHM 121 - Introduction to Diagnostic Testing

Description: This course is an introduction to basic theory and practical application of diagnostic testing equipment in trouble-shooting procedures. Content includes the study of diagnostic software and generic diagnostic readers for all major engine manufacturers.

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A =  90 - 100
B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate proper use of a scan tool to retrieve diagnostic codes.
  2. Demonstrate proper use of a scan tool to perform bilateral controls.
  3. Interpret and explain hydraulic and/or pneumatic schematics.
  4. Perform the symptom, to system, to component, to cause diagnostic process.
  5. Demonstrate operation of a various test equipment such as pressure gauges and oscilloscopes.
