DHM 205 - Diesel Engines II Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3
Description: This course covers the practical application of diesel engine repair, including engine disassembly, unit repair, reassembly, and testing.
Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159 or CWE 113 and DHM 173 Course Topics:
- Cooling System Operation and Diagnosis
- Lubrication System and Diagnosis
- Gaskets and Sealants
- Camshafts, Valve train, and Engine Timing Components
- Engine Cleaning and Component Inspection

F = 0 - 59 Student Learning Outcomes:
- Examine the diesel engine combustion process.
- Identify the components of an internal combustion engine.
- Demonstrate the proper procedure for internal combustion engine removal and installation.
- Classify the function of the major systems of an internal combustion engine.
- Identify the different types of engine coolants.
- Show the ability to diagnose base engine concerns.
- Describe the importance of and how the engine lubricating system works.
