DHM 251 - Suspension and Steering

Description: This course is a study of steering systems, suspension systems, and basic front-end alignment techniques. 

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173  
Course Topics:
  • Tires and wheels
  • Front suspension service
  • Rear suspension service
  • Wheel alignments
  • Power assisted steering systems

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A =  90 - 100
B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79
D =   60 - 69
F =     0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Diagnose and repair suspension concerns.
  2. Diagnose and repair manual/power steering concerns.
  3. Perform wheel alignment procedures.
  4. Interpret alignment angles given while using alignment equipment.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to mount and balance wheel and tire assemblies.
