DHM 265 - Hydraulic Systems


Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 3

Description: This course is a study of the theory, application, testing, and repair of diesel and heavy equipment hydraulic systems. 

Prerequisite(s): Take DHM 159  or CWE 113  and DHM 173  
Course Topics:
  • Heavy equipment hydraulic systems theory and operation
  • Hydraulic system diagnosis
  • Hydraulic system repair procedures
  • Pascal’s law of hydraulics

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A =  90 - 100
B =   80 - 89
C =   70 - 79
D =   60 - 69
F =     0 - 59


Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of hydraulic principles.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to repair hydraulic hoses and/or connections.
  3. Demonstrate the diagnostic process as it relates to hydraulic systems.
  4. Show the ability to properly remove and reinstall pumps and hoses.
