MEC 153 - Mechanical Drive Systems


Lecture Hours: 2 Credits: 2

Description: This course covers mechanical transmission devices, including procedures for installation, removal, and maintenance.

Prerequisite(s): MEC 102 , MEC 110 , and MEC 130 .

Grading System:
An overall grade of C or higher is required for transferability.

A = 90 - 100
B = 80 - 89

D = 60 - 69

Student Learning Outcomes:
  1. Demonstrate the correct procedure in assembling and maintaining various power transmission drives.
  2. Demonstrate the proper application and installation of bearings.
  3. Demonstrate the proper application and installation of mechanical seals, gaskets and packing.
  4. Demonstrate the proper uses of lubricants.
  5. Demonstrate the correct procedure for aligning and maintaining V-belt and chain drives.
